Send Wasps Elsewhere
Tried & True - Yellow Jackets & Other Wasps love tuna flavored food, but have not been shown to have a strong attraction to other flavors. Open a can of fresh & moist tuna cat food and place approximately 2T., or the whole can, in a location approximately 50' or further from your outdoor gathering and the wasps will flock to the lure, leaving your party free from fear. The base of the lure should be placed at least 5' above the ground but also where you have a clear view so that you can avoid approaching the trap when wasps are actively circling to avoid a sting. If you are able, leave the lure in place until evening and retrieve it for disposal when wasps are no longer present. As always - avoid stinging Yellow Jacket Wasps. Avoid sugary baits which would also attract lovely bees.
